In this Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, the Commission proposes to eliminate six requirements from its broadband label rules and seeks comment on other ways it might streamline the requirements. Congress directed the Commission in 2021 to require broadband providers to display labels to help consumers make informed decisions when choosing a broadband plan. The Commission adopted detailed rules in 2022 and since then parties have urged the Commission to eliminate certain rules. The proposed changes would better align the requirements with the mandate from Congress and reduce unnecessary compliance burdens while preserving the core information that helps consumers compare different broadband plans.
